HELP… THE WEDDING FAVORS!!!
2 December 2024
- Anyone who has already gotten married… or is about to… has probably made this exclamation at least once!
- When a couple decides to get married, they begin to dream and plan the event as they have always imagined, paying attention to every detail, no matter how small, with love and care, eager to give their friends and family a memorable day.
- This is how the choice of the venue, flowers, attire… and the wedding favors begins!
- The “bomboniera,” a name derived from the French “bon-bon” (sweet), originated in Italy at the end of the 15th century: nobles used to carry small boxes containing sweets and candies made from sugar, a substance imported from the Indies and very expensive at that time.
- The less wealthy, on the other hand, were content with paper or fabric bags containing sweets.
- But it was only in 1896, with the wedding of Vittorio Emanuele, Prince of Naples and future King of Italy, and Elena of Montenegro, that the wedding favor became a gift from the couple to the guests.
- Thus, the tradition of the wedding favor as we know it today was born, as a “symbol” to remember the wedding day and as a way to thank the guests for the gifts received.
- Wedding favors have become a tradition and a part of the culture of modern Italy, spreading to other countries as well. For example, we know that the tradition of wedding favors is very popular in Greece, but less so in Germany, and it is on the rise in many countries such as Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, and even in Africa and Australia.
- The Island of Elba, in addition to being a beloved destination for locals in love, has become a sought-after wedding destination in recent years. Every year, numerous couples, including celebrities, choose to get married on our magical island, and some of them have found in Perle dell’Elba the refined and precious element for unique and personalized wedding favors… after all, what better symbol of their wedding day than our enchanting sea and the memory of salt on their skin?

- The sea is an important part of every wedding event held on our island… whether it’s in a church, a Medici fortress, a countryside estate, or a beach… the sea is always there and plays a fundamental role in the scenery.
- The Pearl can be given in many variations, either on its own or assembled into beautiful jewelry pieces to wear, perfect for both men and women.
- Sure, it might not be a wedding favor given to all guests (especially if there are many!), but it’s ideal, for example, for the witnesses, the parents, or the couple themselves.
- The gift will be double, and the memory of that magical day will always be tied to the island of Elba, its crystal-clear sea contained in our Pearls, and the memory of the salt on the skin.
