Not Pearls of Seawater but Pearls… WITH… Seawater!
2 December 2024
- It may seem like a simple preposition, but that “with” makes a huge difference! Today, we want to clear up any doubts and reveal the true secret of Perle dell’Elba, explaining what sets our Pearls apart from all the others…
- Certainly, pearls in jewelry are nothing new; there are Freshwater Pearls, Seawater Pearls, Natural Pearls, Cultured Pearls, Australian Pearls… and then there are Perle dell’Elba, which are not Pearls “of” the Sea but Pearls “with” the Sea! Common Pearls, in fact, are produced naturally or “artificially” by live mollusks or oysters found below the surface of the sea or in freshwater.
- Perle dell’Elba is none of this and does not exploit any oysters or mollusks. Instead, it works directly with the seawater of Elba Island through a handcrafted process of our own invention, solidifying it to create the Pearl, which is then used in the entirely artisanal creation of our jewelry.
- The distinctive white coloration comes from the crystallization of the salt naturally present in seawater.
- For our creations, we chose to use water from the magnificent Spiaggia delle Ghiaie in Portoferraio, one of the iconic beaches of our beautiful island. This is why, by wearing a Perle dell’Elba jewel, you truly have the chance to always carry with you our most precious treasure… our Sea.
